Market Finds

This week I am showing a few things I found in the local shops as well as some things I bought a while ago in India and on Etsy. We have a well balanced Feng Shui arrangement here - wood, earth and metal.

These are wooden stamps that I found in India. They sell them all over the place - really in every shop for a between 30 - 100 rupees (.45 - $1). Oh My God - I just looked them up on line. They are going for about $7 each here on Ebay and Amazon. Ooops - should have bought bags full..  These stamps are hand carved from wood and they are used to print textiles in India. I think these stamps are vintage, leftover from an older era when sari fabric was all hand stamped, but I could be wrong. Trying to do some research now and finding very little info..  Can you believe how whimsical and lovely these are? You can see the attention to detail and quirky movements of the human hand. It just doesn't get sweeter..  I am just setting these around my house as decoration right now, but I might try printing with them sometime.
