Dramatic Fall Flower Arrangement
There are so many beautiful colors and textures in the fall when the plants and trees are sining their swan songs - if you want to create a large and dramatic center piece for your table but you do not want to spend an arm and a leg to do it, just look around you! For this center piece I used some dry vines that I found on a recent walk. I took them home and washed them off with the outdoor hose, and then I painted them white. Here is what I was working with - just some dry old vines caked with mud - I could tell that they had twists and turns in their forms that would add the drama I was looking for to the arrangement.
They add some structure and size to the arrangement and they are also used as an armature for some of the other leaves. The main greenery in the arrangement is another vine - I wrapped parts of it around the dry sticks. Then I added some Japanese Maple and some yellow leaves for color, some pampas grass and something else dry and fluffy for texture and Voila. Below is a photograph of it on my dining room table but before the addition of a few of the plants. I like how it looked when it was very simple too.
